Q: How do you handle Patient Privacy?
A: Patient Privacy is of the utmost importance to us. The staff receive through PHIA training with both the Privacy Officer at the clinic as well as with a designate from Manitoba Health. All staff have signed a Confidentiality Pledge with the clinic. We want to make sure that everyone can trust, and is comfortable with providing their health information to us.
Q: Do you have any doctors accepting new patients?
A: At the moment we do not. As time goes on the physicians will re-evaluate their patient loads to ensure they can provide proper care to all of their patients.
Q: How long is the walk-in wait?
A: We cannot give out wait times and we do not triage, it all depends on what each person is seeing the physician for, some visits will take longer than others (ie. stitches vs flu shot). We also have appointments throughout the day that will take priority. The clinic does however, have two physicians treating walk-in patients during the day.
Q: Can I book an appointment?
A: If you have a family physician at the clinic then yes, you may call to book. Unfortunately we do not offer appointments for walk-in patients.
Q: Is there a fee if I miss an appointment?
A: If you are unable to attend an appointment we ask that you give us as much notice as possible, we will take into consideration emergency situations. The clinic policy is as follows; 24 hours notice is required, after you have been made aware of our cancellation policy by the receptionist through phone or letter, on your missed appointment without 24 hours notice you will be subjected to a No Show fee which ranges from $20-$40 dollars.
Q: Can the doctors call in prescription refills to my pharmacy?
A: If you have seen your family doctor within 3 months, please have your pharmacy fax us a request for refills. This will only be done for family patients at the discretion of the physician, and must be requested from the pharmacy by you, the clinic/doctor cannot call the pharmacy for you.
Q: Can I get my results over the phone?
A: No. The receptionist will contact you if it is necessary that you schedule a follow up appointment with your physician with regards to results. We do not do this over the phone because your person and confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. It is also important that both you and your physician discuss your condition with regards to your results in order to ensure that both of you have a full understanding of your medical situation, only your doctor can answer your questions fully. If a follow up appointment is required to review results, it may be because a diagnosis needs to be discussed or clarified, there may be something that needs to be re-tested or you may need further testing. The doctor always has your best interest in mind.
Q: When will you get my results?
- Blood Work and swabs - 2-5 business days (Some may take longer)
- Paps - 4 weeks
- Imaging (Xray, EKG, Ultrasound, etc) 1-7 business days
- Biopsies - 3-4 Weeks
If their is something the physician needs to discuss with you, whether it be good or not so good news, you will hear from us. If you do not, assume that all your results were normal. If you are not called back and would like to review the results to ease your mind please feel free to book an appointment or use the walk-in clinic if you do not have a physician here. Feel free to call the clinic to ensure your results are available before coming in to see the physician. Staff will not disclose results over the phone, no exceptions.
